About the Book

In Gaza I dare to dream is Rana's first book. It's a memoir about her life and the lives of her people who are living under Occupation and Siege. In Gaza, even the smallest goals people set for themselves can pose challenges, which thwart and dishearten. The harsh living conditions imposed by Occupation and its allies hinder the youth and put every obstacle in their way to crush their souls and ruin their lives. Nevertheless, the young people of Gaza never cease to amaze the world with their unmatched resilience, valor and obstinacy to take on the challenges and face them with the little means they have.  Growing up in a place like Gaza is not the most pleasant experience for children who are deeply affected by the excruciating living circumstances. Hundreds have been killed in the Israeli aggressions over the tiny Gaza Strip, over 500 in the 2014 aggression alone. In other parts of occupied Palestine, the number of children held in Israeli prisons and given sentences is alarming. Defense for Children International-Palestine reports that Israel is the only country in the world that systematically prosecutes between 500 and 700 children in military courts each year
